Medical insurance designed to fit your needs
Full-time and regular part-time teammates are eligible for medical insurance beginning the first of the month following one month of employment. SunTrust has many plans—all include a prescription drug plan.
- A preferred provider organization (PPO)
- A choice between two high-deductible health plans with an optional health savings account
Dental coverage you can smile about
Full-time and regular part-time teammates are eligible for dental coverage beginning the first of the month following one month of employment. Discounts are available if you choose to see a dentist in the PPO network.
- Basic plan: The most affordable choice if you don't anticipate more extensive dental work or othodontia.
- Plus plan: A more comprehensive plan that includes orthodontia
- Dental HMO: An HMO that includes orthodontia (subject to geographical location)

Whether you want to make a fashion statement with the latest eyewear or you’re considering laser eye surgery, SunTrust’s vision care program can help. The program, available to full-time and regular part-time teammates, covers:
- An annual eye exam

Pre-tax savings for some healthcare costs
A healthcare flexible spending account (FSA) allows you to set aside up to $2,550 of your pre-tax earnings for expenses not covered by your health insurance to be automatically deducted over the course of the year.

Basic life insurance at no additional cost
You and your family can rest easier knowing that SunTrust provides basic life insurance coverage at no cost to you. Full-time teammates receive life insurance coverage equal to one times their annual salary/benefits base. Regular part-time teammates receive $10,000 of basic life insurance coverage.
Insuring your income when you're not working
In the event that you suffer a long-term illness or injury and are no longer able to work, SunTrust’s disability insurance will cover 50 percent of your annual salary/benefits base. Full-time teammates are eligible for disability insurance beginning the day after 6 months of service. If your disability insurance needs exceed this benefit, you can purchase additional coverage.
Access to long-term care policy
With the cost of assisted-living facilities, nursing homes and home-health services increasingly expensive, long-term care can quickly erode your savings. SunTrust will help you prepare for those potential costs with long-term care insurance. It’s available for full-time and part-time SunTrust teammates interested in purchasing a policy for themselves or their eligible dependents.
When basic life insurance doesn't cover it
If your life insurance needs exceed the basic life insurance benefits provided by SunTrust, consider buying additional coverage. As a full-time or regular part-time teammate, you can purchase optional group universal life insurance for yourself and eligible dependents at competitive group rates.

Vacation policy: SunTrust recognizes that time away from work promotes balance and increased productivity. With this in mind, we offer a generous vacation policy with the amount of time off based on length of service and job description.
Family and medical leave: As an teammate of SunTrust you may take unpaid time away from work with job protection and continuation of benefits. You may take a period of up to 12 weeks during a rolling 12-month period for maternity leave, family leave or any other qualifying medical event, as defined by the Family and Medical Leave Act. You may take a period of up to 26 weeks during a rolling 12-month period for certain qualifying military-related events, as defined by the Family and Medical Leave Act.
Personal sick days: SunTrust offers five paid sick days each year for incidental absences due to maternity leave, personal illness or injury. Additionally, we provide up to 10 paid days of family leave to care for a sick family member, as well as bereavement leave following the loss of a family member.
Short-term disability leave: In addition, SunTrust’s short-term disability policy gives financial protection for up to 26 weeks after your own illness or injury.
Military leave and reinstatement: SunTrust teammates who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces can count on leave and full job protection and employment rights. SunTrust takes pride in complying with the federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act and all other applicable laws, including applicable state laws.
Jury duty: To help teammates meet their civic responsibilities, SunTrust provides excused time away from work with full pay when they are called for jury service.

Putting your retirement plans on the fast track
Our 401(k) plan:
- Automatically enrolls you in the 401(k) plan on the first day of the second calendar month following your hire date
- Allows pre-tax and Roth after-tax contributions up to 50 percent of your eligible earnings each pay period, while letting you increase, decrease or stop contributions at any time
- Matches your contributions dollar for dollar, up to 6 percent of eligible earnings
- Provides that your contributions are always 100% vested
- Provides that SunTrust's matching contributions will be 100% vested after completing two years of service
