This page houses the most recent examples of fraud alerts involving bogus SunTrust e-mails, plus any additional information we believe you should be aware of. Text Phishing
Fraudsters are texting from multiple numbers (sometimes blocked #’s) and are telling clients and non clients that this text directs the recipient to call 302-7511 to unblock their card. Consumers should be aware that, while SunTrust does monitor for fraudulent or suspicious activity and may proactively contact a client about this activity, we will never call and ask for confidential information including your full account number or PIN. Report any incidents to emailabuse@suntrust.com or 1-800-447-8994 if you have provided confidential information.

Phishing Alert: Fraudulent emails from the Internal Revenue Service
Fraudulent emails appearing to be from the IRS are in circulation. The body of the email says “Your Tax payment (ID: 26671874562499), recently sent from your checking account was rejected by the your Bank.”

Do not click on the link. Recipients should consider the email an attempt to collect personal or confidential information, or to load malicious software onto a user's computer. The emails are reported to contain a file infected with malware. If opened, the file will likely release malicious software. Therefore, recipients should be advised NOT to open the file. Instead, they should forward the email to emailabuse@suntrust.com and then delete the email from their computer

Fraudsters are sending automated text messages from multiple numbers (sometimes blocked #’s) to SunTrust clients and non clients. The body of the text message says: S.U.N.T.R.U.S.T. Notice Please call 213 799 0779. Consumers should be aware that, while SunTrust does monitor for fraudulent or suspicious activity and may proactively contact a client about this activity, we will never call and ask for confidential information including your full account number or PIN. Report any incidents to emailabuse@suntrust.com or 1-800-447-8994 if you have provided confidential information.

Fraudulent emails appearing to be from the FDIC are in circulation. The FDIC does not directly contact consumers, nor does the FDIC request bank customers to install software upgrades.

Phone and Text Phishing

Fraudsters are making automated calls and texting from multiple numbers (sometimes blocked #’s) and are telling clients and non clients that their Card has been compromised, suspended lost or deactivated and needs to be reactivated. The scheme may ask for the card number, PIN, and expiration date in order to reactivate the card. The call may also ask the client to select an option to continue. Consumers should be aware that, while SunTrust does monitor for fraudulent or suspicious activity and may proactively contact a client about this activity, we will never call and ask for confidential information including your full account number or PIN. Report any incidents to emailabuse@suntrust.com or 1-800-447-8994 if you have provided confidential information.
