I have over five years of experience as an advisor, specializing in retirement planning and income generating strategies. After graduating from Valdosta State University in Georgia with a bachelor’s degree, I began my career as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch. While it was a satisfying career, and provided me with a strong foundation, I really liked SunTrust as a company and decided to join the SunTrust Investment Services team back in 2007. I recently completed the requirements to earn the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation, allowing me to advise my clients on the more intricate details of retirement planning. I currently live in Cumming, GA with my wife, Neel, and two children.
My approach is to advise clients on the development and implementation of investment strategies that help them meet their immediate and future goals. The steps I take include assessing a client’s financial situation, determining risk tolerance, forming an appropriate plan, and then executing that plan. Of course, we continue to monitor the plan as we move toward the client’s goals. It’s crucial that we regularly update the plan to address changes in the clients’ financial lives and in their future goals. One of my primary goals is to put a long term plan in place so that my clients do not outlive their savings. I want the client to be able to use their plan as a roadmap for the rest of their lives.
Why I love my job
I love my job because every day is different and every client is unique. I enjoy the challenge of helping clients reach their goals and seeing their satisfaction as their goals are realized. I enjoy getting to know my clients personally and being the point person for their financial lives.
I view my clients as the lifeblood of my business, so I strive to provide a level of service that is second to none. Using my planning approach, I become a partner in my clients’ financial lives and do whatever it takes to help them reach their goals. Fortunately, with SunTrust, I have the resources to provide comprehensive planning and portfolio management in a local setting. Whether the objective is to grow a portfolio or supplement a client’s income in the most tax-efficient manner possible, I have the tools and teammates that enable me to do my job, and help my clients get to where they want to be.
My proudest moment
After years of working together, I had a client that recently asked me if he could retire early. After reviewing his plan and prioritizing his goals, I was able to tell the client that he could move forward with the next stage in life and be confident about the decision based on the plan that we put in place. The client will work part-time in retirement, but will be doing something he loves, which gives me a great deal of satisfaction.
