SunTrust recognizes that time away from work promotes balance and increased productivity. With this in mind, we offer a generous vacation policy with the amount of time off based on length of service and job description.


SunTrust offers maternity/parental leave to help full-time and part-time employees during the life-changing time of a new baby joining the family. For new parents, SunTrust provides 100% of pay for up to 16 weeks of paid time off for birth Moms and 6 weeks for Dads, partners and adoptive parents.

Personal Sick

SunTrust offers five paid sick days each year for incidental absences due to maternity leave, personal illness or injury. Additionally, we provide up to 10 paid days of family leave to care for a sick family member, as well as bereavement leave following the loss of a family member.

Day of Purpose

As part of SunTrust’s commitment to lighting the way to financial well-being, the Day of Purpose is to ensure that employees can take dedicated time to focus on their financial well-being.  It's a day for employees to take those steps toward financial confidence. 


Giving back already feels good and SunTrust has made community involvement an important part of the way we do business. Our volunteerism program, OnUp Together, helps employees target local volunteer opportunities that deliver financial well-being in our communities.  All full-time teammates receive 8 hours of paid time to volunteer each year.


SunTrust provides eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid job-protected leave within a rolling 12-month period for qualifying medical reasons(or up to 26 weeks of unpaid job-protected leave in a rolling 12-month period for certain military-related qualifying reasons),  as defined by the Family and Medical Leave Act.


In addition, SunTrust’s short-term disability policy gives financial protection for up to 26 weeks after your own illness or injury.


SunTrust employees who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces can count on leave and full job protection and employment rights. SunTrust takes pride in complying with the federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act and all other applicable laws, including applicable state laws.


To help employees meet their civic responsibilities, SunTrust provides excused time away from work with full pay when they are called for jury service.
