Vacation policy

SunTrust recognizes that time away from work promotes balance and increased productivity. With this in mind, we offer a generous vacation policy with the amount of time off based on length of service and job description.

Family and medical leave

As an employee of SunTrust you may take unpaid time away from work with job protection and continuation of benefits. You may take a period of up to 12 weeks during a rolling 12-month period for maternity leave, family leave or any other qualifying medical event, as defined by the Family and Medical Leave Act. You may take a period of up to 26 weeks during a rolling 12-month period for certain qualifying military-related events, as defined by the Family and Medical Leave Act.

Personal sick days

SunTrust offers five paid sick days each year for incidental absences due to maternity leave, personal illness or injury. Additionally, we provide up to 10 paid days of family leave to care for a sick family member, as well as bereavement leave following the loss of a family member.

Short-term disability leave

In addition, SunTrust’s short-term disability policy gives financial protection for up to 26 weeks after your own illness or injury.

Military leave and reinstatement

SunTrust employees who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces can count on leave and full job protection and employment rights. SunTrust takes pride in complying with the federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act and all other applicable laws, including applicable state laws.

Jury duty

To help employees meet their civic responsibilities, SunTrust provides excused time away from work with full pay when they are called for jury service.

Parental Leave

SunTrust offers parental leave to help full-time and part-time employees during the life-changing time of a new baby joining the family. It may include maternity leave for 10 weeks at 100 percent of pay plus parental leave for six weeks, which the employee can take in one-week increments within 12 months of birth. Also up to six weeks of leave is available to fathers, domestic partners and adoptive parents at 100% of pay after the birth or adoption of a child.
