Disability Services

SunTrust disability services make banking easy and convenient for clients who have disabilities and may require special services.

For instance, we offer Braille and large-print monthly statements at no cost to clients who request this service. And if your disability makes it difficult to visit a branch, we can set up your accounts to make it simple for you to bank from home.

In fact, SunTrust offers a variety of services to accommodate you.

Braille and large print at SunTrust
We’re happy to provide Braille or large print statements and audio CD statement conversion at no extra cost.

SunTrust can also assist you in ordering Guideline checks.

Manage your accounts by phone
Have a question about your account? No need to visit a branch. Telephone Banking allows you to access account information and perform banking transactions (re-order checks, transfer funds, stop payment on checks, verify loan status, etc.)

Automated Telephone Banking
Manage your accounts using your telephone keypad 24/7 via Automated Telephone Banking, which you can reach using a touch-tone telephone, at 800.SUNTRUST (800.786.8787). Automated Telephone Banking also gives you the option of using voice recognition technology.

Operator-Assisted Telephone Banking
Disabled clients may speak directly to an operator by calling SunTrust at 800.786.8787 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Saturday, excluding most Federal Holidays.

Hearing or Speech Disabled Clients
TTY/TDD
Our hearing impaired clients may also contact SunTrust using a text telephone (TTY) or Telephone for the Deaf (TDD) at 800.854.8965. Operators are available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Saturday, excluding most Federal Holidays.

Relay System
Hearing and speech-disabled clients may also choose to contact SunTrust using the Relay System, a technology that allows the client to communicate with SunTrust through a specially trained intermediary Communications Assistant, provided free of charge through your telephone service. Anyone can initiate the Relay System by dialing 7-1-1. The caller then provides to the Communications Assistant the phone number of the person or business the caller wants to reach, either by typing the information on a TDD machine, by voice, text or using another type of technology. The Communications Assistant then makes the connection by telephone and relays the conversation back and forth between the caller and recipient. SunTrust Operators are available at 800.786.8787 to receive Relay System calls from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Saturday, excluding most Federal Holidays.

Online Banking
Bank anywhere, anytime from a computer
Online Banking makes life easier for clients with disabilities. Online Banking lets you do most banking tasks, 24 hours a day, without having to visit a branch. And you can pay your bills online with our convenient Bill Pay service – no need to fill out checks or go to the mailbox.

Mobile Banking
SunTrust Mobile Banking includes four mobile access channels that provide clients control over their accounts anywhere, anytime on certain mobile devices. Ask about Mobile Banking at your local branch or at 1.800.suntrust (800.786.8787) between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern time, excluding most Federal Holidays.

Sign language interpreters for the hearing-impaired
SunTrust branch teammates can arrange for a sign language interpreter to be present for loan closings or other bank transactions if you request this service prior to the branch visit. There is no charge for this service.

Assistive Technology Loan Programs
SunTrust has a unique partnership with Virginia Assistive Technology Loan Fund authority (ATLFA) and the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST) to assist disabled individuals and their families with low interest loans for purchasing assistive technology services or devices. These services and devices include modified vehicles, home modifications, computers, wheelchairs, communication devices, etc. Eligible Clients complete a consumer loan application that the agency submits on their behalf. Interested clients should contact the applicable agency directly for more information and to determine if they are eligible to participate in the program. (See below).
Agencies may also be able to assist those clients whose applications are denied.

Trust
Recovery Management Trust and Special Needs Trust Administration Services
Your branch can put you in touch with SunTrust affiliates that can assist you with handling a substantial recovery from a legal judgment or settlement, by professionally managing disbursements so that the money is available for both present and future needs. We can also assist clients in setting up Special Needs Trusts to provide for a family member who will require long-term care.

Headphone and Braille features
All SunTrust ATMs are equipped to assist our clients with visual disabilities. Clients can plug their own headphones into the input jack located on all SunTrust ATMs. Braille instructions for using voice output and locating the input jack can be found on each SunTrust ATM. The ATM will provide voice output instructions to guide clients through their transactions and will also provide voice output summaries of all transactions.

All SunTrust ATMs are also equipped with tactilely discernable function and keypad keys.
