What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is a contactless payment feature accessed through your Apple® mobile device (iPhone®, iPad or Apple Watch) that allows merchants to receive payments.

How does Apple Pay work?

Apply Pay creates an electronic version of your credit and debit cards, assigning device account numbers, for added security. You are able to use Apple Pay at participating merchants who accept Apple Pay.

Is Apple Pay secure?

Yes. When you use Apple Pay, your SunTrust card number isn't stored on your phone or given to the merchant. A unique digital code is created specifically for your device. You still enjoy all the benefits of your SunTrust credit or debit card, which includes our Zero Liability policy that protects you from unauthorized purchases.

Is there a cost associated with Apple Pay?

There is no cost to use Apple Pay; however, wireless carrier fees may apply. SunTrust credit card Terms & Conditions and your Debit Card Deposit Account Agreement will apply for all purchases.

What do I need to use Apple Pay?
  • Your eligible Apple® device
  • Your SunTrust Credit or Debit Card
  • The latest version of iOS, WatchOS or macOS
  • An Apple ID

Which SunTrust card can I use with Apple Pay?

You can use all SunTrust consumer credit and debit cards.

How do I set up Apple Pay with my SunTrust card on my device?

Before you can start using Apple Pay you will need to add your existing SunTrust card to your device. If your SunTrust card is already attached to your Apple iTunes account and eligible for Apple Pay, you will be prompted to use it as your default account. You may store 8 eligible credit and debit cards on your device. To add additional cards to your device, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Wallet and tap "Add credit or debit card"
  2. Follow the steps to add a new card.
  3. Tap Next. SunTrust or your card issuer will verify your information and decide if you can add your card to Apple Pay.
  4. After SunTrust or your card issuer verifies your card, tap Next. Then, start using your card with Apple Pay.
How do I change my default card to my SunTrust card?

The credit or debit card associated with your iTunes® account or the first card you add to Passbook® is your default card. To change your default card:

  1. Go to Settings > Wallet & Apply Pay.
  2. Tap Default Card.
  3. Choose a new card.
How do I use Apple Pay as my payment choice?

To use for payment for in-store purchases, simply hold your device near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID™. A soft vibration and beep indicate your payment was accepted. Using Apple Pay for In-App purchases is just as easy, simply by selecting "Apple Pay" and placing your finger on the Touch ID.

Where can I use Apple Pay?

You can use Apple Pay at more than 220,000 locations, including Bloomingdale's®, McDonald's®, Macy's®, Nike®, and Staples®. You can view the complete list of merchants here.
