Saving for College

Is a college meal plan a good deal?

College meal plans can save you money (and time!) compared to preparing or buying meals on your own. The catch—if you don’t use your meal plan properly, it could end up costing you more in the long run. When you consider how much you’ll use a meal plan, be sure to think about things like:

  • What are the dining hours?
  • Are meal portions unlimited?
  • What merchants accept meal plan dollars/campus cash?
  • Does the plan accommodate special meals (e.g. dietary restrictions or vegetarian meals)?
