My name is Ernie Dawal. I'm Chief Investment Officer of SunTrust advisory services and head of the Investment Advisory Group. I have the privilege of leading a terrific and talented group of investment professionals that include U.S., domestic, and globally focused investment strategists, equity and fixed income specialists and manager research analysts.
Our group is guided by core beliefs and an investment philosophy that enables our advisors to lead clients to invest with purpose, adhere to a consistent and disciplined process, mitigate unnecessary risks, whenever possible, and select investment solutions wisely.
The guiding principles of our investment approach align directly with SunTrust's purpose of lighting the way to financial well-being. We believe investments should be a reflection of our clients' goals. Investments should do something, not just be something.
Portfolios should be constructed holistically and ultimately success should be measured relative to clients' objectives. But portfolios that are appropriately aligned with goals will typically achieve those goals over the long term.
I'm Keith Lerner, chief market strategist and managing director of portfolio and market strategy. My team sets the firm's investment outlook and provides asset allocation guidance.
Decision-making under conditions of uncertainty cuts to the heart of investing. A disciplined process helps avoid poor decision-making and keeps our clients grounded during periods of market turmoil, which is often a period of high emotion.
A quality investment process has a long-term focus. Our process begins with determining which forces will shape the global economic environment in the years to come. We focus our research on factors such as demographics, technology, interest rates and today's valuations.
We manage risk by diversifying globally and adhering to a total return approach, which combines income and growth investments. This also allows clients’ asset allocations to remain consistent with their individual goals. Periodically, tactical opportunities will present themselves. When that's the case, we seek to capture them by allocating more money to investments we believe will outperform or shift portfolios to potentially reduce risk.
My name is Tracey Devine, and I'm director of manager research for SunTrust's Investment Advisory Group. My primary responsibility at SunTrust is to source money managers and to ensure that they're meeting our expectations. Individual preferences and financial circumstances drive the investment solutions selected for your portfolio.
Manager due diligence is about much more than a snapshot of historical performance. For example, it's important to review rolling returns and analyze how managers perform versus our expectations in a variety of market environments.
The amount of risk a manager takes to achieve performance is critical in our analysis. Not only do we analyze all the supporting details surrounding the familiar five Ps—People, Philosophy, Process, Performance and Price—but we also spend a significant amount of time and resources on operational due diligence and on-site visits where we have access to the lead portfolio managers and analysts.
For every data point reviewed, there's a full continuum of opinions from good to bad. Due diligence is for from black or white. Experience matters.
SunTrust's private wealth clients can count on ongoing communication, education, and answers to questions, strategy alterations and adjustments, and continuous review and monitoring of their wealth plans. We deeply value our client relationships and work with you, not for you, to help you reach your financial goals and help secure a life well spent for you and your future generations.

The Carousel of Concerns, a mainstay of this bull market, continues to turn. As one worry recedes and another comes to the forefront, we anticipate modestly positive year ahead. Here are the key themes to watch out for in 2019.
Welcome to the latest generational Catch-22: older parents for whom money matters are a taboo topic, surrounded by their adult children who balk at broaching the topic for fear of appearing to be more concerned about the money than the parent’s well-being.
Stay-at-home parents have one of the most rewarding jobs out there, but it’s also one of the toughest. Follow these simple-but-essential steps to make sure your family is on the right financial track.
