After the necessary tasks of getting started with your account are complete, it’s up to you to decide how you want your account to work for you.
From the Move Money tab in Online Banking, select "External Transfers" to move money between your SunTrust accounts and accounts at other financial institutions. If you haven't already, enter and verify the information for your non-SunTrust accounts. In a few more clicks, your transfer will be all set up without you ever leaving home. Funds are accessible as early as the next day.
From the "Internal Pay & Transfer" screen on the Move Money tab in Online Banking, select "One Time" or "Recurring." Then, choose the SunTrust account you want to transfer money from and to, and enter the dollar amount. You can make payments to your SunTrust credit card or loan this way, too. Select "Pay Advance" when viewing those accounts.
Send money to almost anyone in the U.S. with an email address or U.S. mobile phone number. From the Move Money tab in Online Banking, select "Send money with Zelle®," enter the U.S. mobile number or email and the amount to send. Choose a send date, and the account to send it from. The recipient doesn’t need to have Popmoney or a SunTrust account.
Must have a bank account in the U.S. to use Zelle®. Transactions between enrolled Zelle users typically occur in minutes. If your recipient is not yet enrolled with Zelle, it may take between 1 and 3 business days after they enroll. Transaction limitations apply.
At this time, SunTrust does not offer the option for clients to receive funds sent from an account with a financial institution that has not partnered with Zelle®.
First-time Direct Deposit users:
Gather your SunTrust routing and account numbers from a check corresponding to the account where you want items directly deposited.
Tip: Your 9-digit routing number is the first set of numbers on the bottom of your check. Your account number is the second set of numbers, and may be up to 13 digits long.
Next, print and complete one of these forms:
Give the form and a blank check for your corresponding account to the applicable party.
Direct Deposit users at other banks:
With our online SwitchAgent® service, transferring existing Direct Deposit and other automatic payments (insurance, mortgage, etc.) to your new SunTrust account is easy.
