Travel and Foreign Currency

Heading overseas? Let SunTrust help you take care of your pre-trip financial checklist and securing multiple forms of payment while you’re abroad.

Begin by securing foreign currency. SunTrust offers more than 70 currencies with competitive exchange rates so your dollars will go further. Here are some key items to keep in mind when ordering currency:

  • Your request must be made in-person, at a local SunTrust branch.
  • Foreign currency exchange is exclusively provided to SunTrust clients with a checking, savings or money market account. When you place the order, you will need to provide your SunTrust account number.
  • There is a $200 minimum foreign currency order amount and a $10 processing fee.
  • It typically takes 2 to 3 business days to receive the order. You will be able to pick it up at the branch where you placed the order.
  • Speak to the branch about their foreign currency buy back policy regarding exchanging foreign funds upon your return.
