Allen Mast is an attorney and private foundation expert with more than 20 years of foundation and grant making experience. Allen leads SunTrust's Foundations and Endowments Private Foundation Specialty Practice, which manages and supports over 175 independent, family and corporate foundations. Allen works exclusively with grant making foundations, including some of SunTrust's largest and most sophisticated grant making clients. He provides clients with comprehensive administrative, regulatory, compliance, grant making, evaluation, strategic planning and board development services. Allen earned a B.A. degree from Davidson College and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he served on the North Carolina Law Review.

Allen has held executive positions at several grant making foundations and practiced law at a large law firm in North Carolina. He holds a certificate from the National Grantmaking School, a comprehensive program for foundation executives supported by the Kellogg Foundation. He was also a participant in the Robert Hull Fellowship for Emerging Leaders in Southern Philanthropy.

Allen is a regular speaker at regional and national foundation conferences. He is a board member of several grant making foundations and the Georgia Grantmakers Alliance. He is a former board member of the Emory University Board of Visitors, the Central Outreach and Advocacy Center and Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. He also serves on several committees of the Southeastern Council of Foundations and plays leadership roles at other foundation associations. Allen is also a member of the Academy of American Poets.

SunTrust's Foundations and Endowments Specialty Practice delivers comprehensive investment advisory, administration, planned giving, custody, trust and fiduciary services to nonprofit organizations. The firm administers assets for foundations, hospitals, educational institutions, cultural organizations, human service agencies, associations, municipalities and other nonprofits.
